Character descriptions

Well, it’s lucky I didn’t get too far with the script. Re-reading it I can see major changes that need to be made. The charater’s, Joe and Amy, just seemed stiff with no real motivation. I created the folowing basic character sketches in the airport yesterday.

Amy

13, stubborn, “why?”, loves bugs, tom-boy, adventurous, a curious cat

Joe

Shy, introverted, cowardly, timid, think Kafka, easy to anger and frustrate. Attracted to reductive creation: holes, carving, sharp objects, peeling

Wolf Queen

Vicious, evil, uncompromising with a constant thirst for blood and power. Not that smart, not crafty, just strong and violent and unforgiving. A sledgehammer.

This changes everything about how Joe and Amy would react to each other in the pilot. Time to restart.

Script additions

I was able to add some more to the script under [current project] during my 7 HOUR plane ride yesterday. I woulda finished it too if my battery hadn’t died.

Bogen Manfrotto 3059 Side Arm

This is the tripod attachment I need. With it I can do STEADY top down animation

It runs about 45$. Maybe a birthday gift. I remember the days when I wouldn’t hestitate to drop 50$. Now I’m worried about buying food when I’m on the road next week. Different times.

navigation

Finally got the navigation on the site working correctly. Archives and past posts should be available now rather than getting a 404 error. Stupid domain redirection.

I also have the adult swim interstitial posted under [animation].

[adult swim] interstitial

Spent the past week working on a 15 second adult swim interstitial. You can see it in progress with the studio shots in the last post. My jury-rigged tripod didn’t work for shit. The final shots jerked all over the place. I had to readjust the entire shot frame by frame. Ugh.

But it’s done. Ready for submittal. My first real short. Learned a lot about After Effects. Man. Rocks. After Effects and Divx don’t seem to work well together. I rendered it uncompressed in After Effects (480 friggin’ MB) and then converted it to DIVX in Virtual Dub. Worked great.

2006. A whole new year in complete synchronization with an evolved me.
