I’m in the final moments of this damn short. There are only a couple of things left. I have to find voices for Uncle, Nephew and Emmy. I feel pretty good about the sound effects, but I may still tweak them a little. I also have to finish up the Tooth Queen segment. I’ve had her walk, run, sneak, dance and none of it looks right. I’m not sure where to go with it next.

Honestly I just want it DONE! I’m sick of the short. I’m sick of the puppets. I just want it finished and in the can. I’m already thinking about the next project. I know the story and have an idea of how I want to accomplish it, but I refuse to even start until I finish MUDH.

Happy New Year all! I got some work done last week. I hit a lot of dead ends too. I find it hard to plan some things out until I can see how they are staged through the camera. I created two onions for one scene. One was whole and the other a replacement with a big bite taken out of it. As I started shooting I decided it worked better straight on and the Uncle’s hand ended up covering the onion. This eliminated the need for the replacement. Ugh!

I was able to get the shot though. I also fixed the lip sync and started playing around more with the sound. You can see some of this in the “mouth test” section. My timing is still off and I find myself stretching my shots out in post (shortening the fps to stretch things out). All in all I very happy with the output. I’m learning a lot which is the primary purpose of doing this.
