Working on IAD

So I’ve been reminded that International Animation Day is only 6 or so weeks away. I’ve been going to town trying to get our DVD submission together. Last year over 40 countries participated and we had one hell of a show at the High Museum. This year I hope it will be even better. Our submission to other countries is kick-ass. A great compilation of the talent we have in the ATL. I’ll post the line up later.

Don Hertzfeldt

I just got confirmation from the venue! We’re bringing Don Hertzfeldt to Atlanta and I’m finally getting to do my job as screening coordinator!

I can’t wait to see “I am so proud of you”.

So yes I’m the official Screening Coordinator for ASIFA-Atlanta. Our next two shows are Don on Nov 11th and the International Animation Day (at the frickin’ High Museum) on Oct 28th. I also run a so-called Animation Workshop the second Sunday of each month. Busy busy busy.

RIP Bill Melendez

Wow. I’m quite familiar with his work at UPA and WB and Disney, but I’ll always remember him for the Peanuts cartoons.

Cartoon Brew has a nice obituary.

EDIT: Harvey has reprinted an interview he did with Bill in 1993. Thanks Harvey!
